About The Old Reckoner

The Old Reckoner is a small independent site of free tools for reading Britain's past, starting with its old money. A “ready reckoner” was the book of ready-worked sums that clerks and shopkeepers kept by the till; this is the same idea for anyone working with historical records today.

The tools are built to be accurate, quick and easy to use on any device. Old money is handled exactly, down to the farthing, and inflation figures come from the Office for National Statistics.
